The overall 5.1 percent of Tanzanians with the age between 15-49 years are
HIV-positive. HIV
prevalence is higher among women with 6.2 percent than among men with 3.8 percent
(TACAIDS). HIV
prevalence is higher in urban areas for both women and men than in rural areas. There
is still a
challenge of stigma where HIV AIDS affected people have lacked opportunities of
engaging with
others in development activities.
Our interventions
CCI realized the need for sensitizing and bring together people affected with HIV/AIDS
with the aim
of involving them in development activities. The programme has made them stronger than
before
because they have the opportunity to meet and share experience, help one another and
engage
themselves in various income generating activities.
