The CCI in collaboration with Ardhi University coordinated a workshop on Housing Domain.
This key findings obtained from different case study settlements in the city of Dar es Salaam were presented by Dr. Tatu and Professor. Kyessi from Ardhi University. Invited participants from Housing and Land sector such as COS's including Haki Ardhi, Housing Microfinances, Academics, Municipal Land and Urban Planning Officers, Ward and Sub-wards leaders had an opportunity to comment and add more relevant insights to sharpen the findings and highlights number of issues and challenges in linkage to other Domains such as City of System, Informal Settlements and Political Settlements.
Key findings in the Housing Domain included, inability of majority of urban poor not being able to afford and built houses, presence of old Human Settlement Policy with minimal justification of Housing Sector and a problem of majority not using experts to help in constructing houses.
Conclusively, the workshop participants agreed to form a Housing Sector Forum to pioneer and work on challenges in the sector that will be initially coordinated by Center for Community Initiatives (CCI) as secretariat of the forum.
