The Centre for Community Initiative conducted a co-design workshop for the DARAJA Project which involved different stakeholders from regional, ilala municipal, ward, sub-wards representatives, NGO’s ,media, community and forecast authorities (Tanzania Meteorological Authority, TMA) and provide a baseline of findings for the pilot settlement of Kombo for the DARAJA project. This workshop aimed to design a pilot project that could be used to implement the larger project goals. By involving stakeholders, the workshop aimed to gather input and feedback from individuals and groups who are directly impacted by the project and who have valuable insights and perspectives to contribute. This input will help to shape the project design and ensure that it aligns with the needs and priorities of the target community. The baseline findings of the pilot settlement are important for establishing a starting point for the project and identifying key areas of focus or concern. This information can help to inform the development of the pilot project and provide a basis for evaluating the effectiveness of the project over time. Also, by designing a pilot project during the workshop, the facilitators and participants can work together to identify key strategies and approaches for achieving the project goals. This collaborative process can help to build buy-in and support for the project among participants, and ensure that the project is designed in a way that is responsive to the needs and priorities of the target community. Involving stakeholders, providing baseline findings, and designing a pilot project are all key steps in the process of implementing the DARAJA project and ensuring its success over the long term.
